Children's Choir of the Fiesole School

The Vocal Ensemble Tempus Floridum was founded in 1998 in Florence, Italy, under the Direction of Joan Yakkey, renowned composer and Director of the prestigious Childrens Choir, Youth Choir and Young Madrigal Singers of the Music School of Fiesole. Nine of the ten singers in Tempus Floridum studied as children in the Fiesole Youth Choirs.

The Ensemble now consists of ten singers ranging in age from 21 to 32 years old. Most have been singing together for over 20 years, all have an extensive background in Choral Music and have collaborated on numerous occasions with the Opera Theatres of Italy under the baton of conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Myung Wung Chung, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Ritz Ortolani, Seji Ozawa and others. The Ensemble has recently added two singers and together now enjoys a superior level of musicianship and craftsmanship.

The Group has recorded a full length CD that includes Madrigals, Gregorian Chants, Christmas Carols, Renaissance Sacred Motets and selections from the Contemporary a cappella repertoire. They have recorded their second CD, released in January 2010 commissioned by the composer Canary Burton and is available at CDBaby.com under the name WOMEN IN HARMONY. This CD includes a cappella choral music and accompanied pieces (viola, harp, piano)of arrangements of poety and music written by both Canary Burton and Joan Yakkey.
