It's been awhile since I've seen him in person, so I was shocked when I saw a picture of Dennis on his website. You know he's been doing his Mozart thang, writing a new composition, on commission, every single day. Of course some just take more days than others.

My piece came cheap. Some $70, a little addition to the stipend, the offering I send every month to keep the largest and oldest archive of living composers, their music and their interviews
safely hosted on the internet. This was live broadcast on WGDR from Goddard College---Now it has become a vast archive. The fellows behind Kalvos and Demian (Dennis and David Gunn) just got tired after many, many years. Real pioneers they are. They used speech software to record music until there was decent music recording software. It's a little like going to a museum where they show and explain the beginnings of the internet. The future is ad hoc. Put one root in front of the other and you should bump into something hairy before the Ambulance attendant loads you in the bus.....

So, Dennis created this lullaby for me in this winter of 07. The first time I heard it I thought it was rather ugly. I left it be for a couple a weeks not thinking much about it. It being a violin and piano piece, what can go wrong? I went back, simply marveling at what Dennis can do with Pagemaker or some such web maker in his hands. His website is Unique and very well done. It's more complex than I'd have time to keep up, much less be able to build. And THEN he writes music every day? My Gawd!!
I can see him in my minds eye, up in the attic full of computers and paper, PAPER, paper

I listen again to this music........
It's called Earth, Air, Water and Sleep and it's BEAUTIFUL! I'm simply amazed at the transformation. WOW! WOW! Lovely and the cello is no cello but his computer instruments. Later -

And here I want to show you the score. But I only want to show you the first page. Can you read that from 30 paces? Where's your magnifying glass.

Will this do?
